Role Overview

The Group Accountant will be responsible for overseeing the full accounting function across the business operations, ensuring financial accuracy, compliance, and efficiency. This role requires strong expertise in retail, wholesale, and distribution finance, with the ability to drive financial performance through sound reporting and strategic decision-making.

Summary of Key Responsibilities

Financial Management & Reporting

  • Oversee full-cycle accounting for all business divisions.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with IFRS and local regulations.
  • Develop budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis to support strategic planning.
  • Conduct variance analysis to track performance against financial targets.
  • Ensure timely bank reconciliations, accounts payable, and receivable management.

Compliance & Risk Management

  • Ensure compliance with tax regulations, financial reporting standards, and statutory requirements.
  • Liaise with external auditors, tax authorities, and financial institutions.
  • Develop and maintain internal controls and financial policies.

Operational & Strategic Support

  • Identify cost-saving initiatives and process improvements.
  • Provide financial insights to management for business expansion and investment decisions.
  • Work closely with operations, procurement, and sales teams to align financial planning with business objectives.

Leadership & Team Management

  • Supervise and mentor the accounting team, fostering a culture of accuracy and accountability.
  • Lead the implementation of financial systems and software enhancements.
  • Ensure continuous training and development of finance personnel.

Qualifications & Experience Requirements

  • ACCA designation(desirable but not essential).
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Minimum 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 3 years in retail, wholesale, or distribution finance.
  • Proven track record in financial reporting, budgeting, and compliance.
  • Strong proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, or similar).
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel and financial modeling.
  • In-depth understanding of taxation, IFRS, and audit processes.
  • Analytical mindset with strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple business units in a dynamic environment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • High level of integrity, confidentiality, professionalism, and ownership.
