The Business & Employment Centre on behalf of its client Business Barbados, is recruiting for the full-time role of Head of Finance.

Job Title: Head of Finance
Reports To: Chief Executive Officer (CEO)
Direct Reports: Financial Controller, Treasury & Investments Manager

Key Responsibilities:
Financial Management:
  • Oversee the preparation and presentation of financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
  • Ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with applicable financial standards and regulations.
  • Develop and implement financial policies and procedures to ensure efficient and effective financial management.

Budgeting and Forecasting:
  • Lead the budgeting process, including the preparation of annual budgets and financial forecasts.
  • Allocate resources and manage cash flows.
  • Monitor budget performance and provide regular updates to senior management.
  • Analyze financial data to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement.

Payments and Payroll Administration:
  • Manage the administration of payments to vendors and customers, ensuring timely and accurate processing.
  • Oversee payroll administration, including the calculation and disbursement of salaries, wages, and benefits.
  • Ensure compliance with tax laws, labour regulations, and internal policies related to payments and payroll.

Financial Reporting:
  • Prepare and present regular financial reports to the Board of Directors, senior management, and other stakeholders.
  • Provide financial analysis and insights to support decision-making and strategic planning.
  • Ensure timely and accurate reporting of financial results, including monthly, quarterly, and annual reports.

Compliance and Risk Management:
  • Ensure compliance with local and international financial regulations, including tax laws and reporting requirements.
  • Develop and implement internal controls to safeguard assets and mitigate financial risks.
  • Conduct risk assessments and develop strategies to address identified financial risks.

Team Leadership and Development:
  • Lead and manage the finance team, providing guidance, training, and development opportunities.
  • Foster a collaborative and high-performance work environment.
  • Cascade agreed KPIs aligned to the business strategy to the finance teams
  • Conduct performance evaluations and provide feedback to team members.


Stakeholder Engagement:
  • Manage relationships with banks, investors and other strategic partners.
  • Liaise with external auditors, regulators, and financial institutions to ensure compliance and effective financial management.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including vendors, customers, and partners.
  • Represent the finance function in internal and external meetings as required.

Perform any other job -related duties as assigned

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Professional accounting qualification (e.g., CPA, ACCA, CFA) preferred.
  • Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in financial management, with at least 3-5 years in a senior finance role.
  • Extensive knowledge of financial reporting standards, budgeting, and financial analysis.
