Job Summary:

Our client a leading organization in the Retail and Distribution sector is seeking a highly skilled Financial Controller who oversee the financial health of the organization, ensuring accurate financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting. This pivotal role ensures compliance with financial regulations and internal controls, supporting business strategy through actionable financial insights. Reporting directly to the CEO, the Financial Controller is responsible for managing the Senior Management Accountant, Financial Accountant, and indirectly overseeing the entire accounting team.

Key Responsibilities:

Financial Management and Reporting:

  • Oversee and manage all financial operations, including accounting, budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.
  • Ensure the timely preparation and presentation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with accounting principles and regulatory requirements.
  • Analyze financial performance, identify trends, and provide actionable insights to senior management.
  • Lead budgeting and forecasting processes, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
  • Manage cash flow, working capital, and liquidity to meet financial obligations.

Compliance and Internal Controls:

  • Develop and maintain strong internal financial controls to safeguard company assets and ensure accurate reporting.
  • Ensure compliance with tax laws and oversee the preparation of tax returns.
  • Liaise with external auditors to facilitate smooth and timely audits.
  • Maintain and enhance financial systems and software for operational efficiency and accuracy.

Strategic Leadership:

  • Collaborate with executive decision-makers to minimize risks and identify growth opportunities.
  • Provide financial analysis for decision-making on investments, cost management, and strategic planning.
  • Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to strengthen internal controls.

Team Leadership and Development:

  • Effectively manage, mentor, and develop the accounting staff, fostering a high-performance culture.
  • Conduct regular performance evaluations, identify training needs, and ensure timely development plans for direct reports.
  • Initiate disciplinary processes in collaboration with HR, ensuring accountability and adherence to company policies.

Operational Efficiency:

  • Ensure accurate and secure maintenance of departmental records.
  • Prepare timely financial and management reports as needed.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Professional certification such as CPA (Certified Public Accountant), CMA (Certified Management Accountant), or equivalent.
  • Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field; MBA is preferred.
  • Minimum of 15 years of experience in accounting/finance, with at least 7 years in a managerial role.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial regulations, and compliance standards.
  • Proficiency in financial software and systems.
  • Extensive experience in budgeting, financial analysis, and financial modeling.
