Financial Controller

The Financial Controller will be responsible for managing the company’s financial planning, reporting and analysis processes. The incumbent will ensure the integrity of financial information, implement financial controls and provide strategic financial advice to senior management in addition to leading an accounting team and ensuring compliance with IFRS accounting standards and regulations.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Assist in the development and implementation of goals, policies and procedures relating to financial management, budget, accounting and/or payroll.
  • Enter or allocate the entering of records to ensure all tasks are completed within prescribed timescales.
  • Provide support on accounting/financial matters relating to the organisation.
  • Ensure the timely preparation of revenue, budgets and financial performance reports.
  • Monitor and evaluate financial performance and provide explanations and financial advice for efficiencies/improvements to stakeholders.
  • Assist with the planning, testing, training, implementation and review of all aspects of computerised financial systems and ensure the effective operation of system functions.
  • Maintains general and subsidiary ledgers, accounts receivable, revenue distribution, depreciation, cost, property, and operating expenses, and insurance records.
  • Establish a system of controls and develop procedures to assess and improve systems.
  • Interpret legislative and regulatory requirements where necessary and ensure any resulting amendments to processes or procedures are implemented.
  • Coordinates preparation of external audit materials and external financial reporting.
  • Carry out any other duties that are within the scope and grading of the post at the request of senior managers.
REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND COMPETENCIES

A.     Education and Experience
  • Tertiary degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting or equivalent.
  • A minimum of ten (10) years or more related accounting experience
  • A minimum of five (5) years working experience in a senior financial analyst or management role
  • CPA professional certification
  • Sound knowledge of (IFRS) International Financial Reporting Standards and accounting principles
