Mother’s Food Group is seeking to identify a suitably qualified individual to join its senior management team as Factory Operations and Distribution Manager.
Job Summary:
Oversee activities of the Production, Warehouse, Distribution, Purchasing and Bakery Operations Departments. Operate within a team-based culture in which individuals are encouraged to excel and strive for operational excellence. Responsible for the security, safety, storage and control, of raw material, finished and unfinished goods entering and leaving the Warehouse and Production departments. Manage a fleet of vehicles, maintaining their standard and value in the most cost effective way. Responsible for the mobilization, scheduling, assessment, training and retention of assigned employees.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Oversee production operations plans, establishing priorities and sequences.
• Review and approve operational schedules and manufacturing activities to ensure production efficiency and product quality.
• Reviews production and operating reports and resolves operational, manufacturing, and maintenance problems to ensure cost saving and prevent operational delays.
• Develops or revises standard operational and working practices and ensure compliance with standards.
• Oversees department budget and other forecasting
• Maintain system in place to trace the history of items to determine reasons for discrepancies leading to variances. Investigate these discrepancies and recommend actions to resolve.
• Monitor product quality via Temperature Monitoring Procedure and inspection. Manage overall cleaning, sanitation and hygiene of environment.
• Ensure compliance with all Public Health and regulatory standards.
• Responsible for the management of all staffing related matters such as management of staff complement, i.e. actual vs. budget; interviewing, on the job training, knowledge training, attendance, coaching, counseling & discipline, staff meetings, performance evaluations, incentives, food handler’s permits.
• Documenting or reviewing job descriptions, procedures, work instructions where necessary.
• Determines and provides for succession planning. Reports to the Human Resources Department on an ongoing basis Training and development needs and identifies employees with potential for upward mobility.
• Ensure relevant safety training is received by all staff. Ensure all safety rules are adhered to.
Qualification & Experience:
• Tertiary qualification in Production, Operations or Management or equivalent.
• 3-5 years Production, Operations or Warehouse Management experience to include distribution.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
• Working knowledge of Inventory and Supply Chain Management
• Computer application skills including Excel and Word
• High level of numeric skills and an analytical approach to work.
• Basic equipment, maintenance or facility management
• Knowledge of quality sanitation & hygiene practices
• Quality Management Systems or Procedures
• Factory Safety & Security Requirements in accordance with the Factories Act
• Good decision making and problem solving skills
• Proficient verbal and written communication skills
• Flexibility and the ability to multi-task
• Good interpersonal and customer service skills
• Ability to work diligently and accurately with detailed material.
• Ability to work well under pressure to meet established deadlines.
Work Environment:
• High-pressure environment where emphasis is placed on achieving operational targets and meeting customer demand.
• Involve working extended hours from time to time; Sunday and Public Holiday work may be required occasionally.
