Job Summary

The Engineering Services Manager at our manufacturing plant is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the engineering and maintenance functions. This role ensures the efficient and effective operation of plant equipment and facilities, minimizes downtime, and supports continuous improvement initiatives. The manager leads a team of engineers and technicians, coordinates with other departments, and implements strategies to enhance productivity and safety.This role is pivotal in ensuring the operational efficiency and reliability of the plant’s manufacturing capabilities, supporting our commitment to quality and excellence in production.

 

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership and Management:

    • Supervise and mentor a team of engineers, maintenance technicians, and support staff.
    • Develop and implement training programs to enhance team skills and knowledge.
    • Foster a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement.

Maintenance Operations:

    • Plan, prioritize, and oversee maintenance activities to ensure minimal production downtime.
    • Develop and manage preventive maintenance programs for all equipment and facilities.
    • Ensure compliance with all regulatory and safety standards.

Engineering Support:

    • Provide engineering expertise to support manufacturing processes and equipment modifications.
    • Lead projects for the installation, upgrade, or relocation of machinery and equipment.
    • Collaborate with the production team to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues.

Project Management:

    • Manage capital projects, including budgeting, scheduling, and resource allocation.
    • Coordinate with external contractors and suppliers to ensure project objectives are met.
    • Monitor project progress and adjust plans as necessary to meet deadlines and budget constraints.

Budgeting and Cost Control:

    • Develop and manage the maintenance and engineering budget.
    • Track expenditures and implement cost-saving measures without compromising quality or safety.
    • Analyse maintenance costs and recommend strategies for improvement.

Continuous Improvement:

    • Identify opportunities for process optimization and efficiency improvements.
    • Implement best practices in maintenance and engineering operations.
    • Drive initiatives to enhance equipment reliability and performance.

Reporting and Documentation:

    • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, equipment performance, and project progress.
    • Prepare and present reports on key performance indicators (KPIs) to senior management.
    • Ensure documentation is up-to-date and compliant with industry standards.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • Other qualification and training in Electrical, Industrial, or related field would be an asset.
  • Proven experience in a similar role within a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of maintenance processes, engineering principles, and project management.
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Proficiency in maintenance management software and tools.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience with lean manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements and safety standards in the manufacturing industry.
  • Advanced degree or certifications in engineering or maintenance management. (preferred)
