The incumbent will be responsible for managing and ensuring that the maintenance and operational resources and key performance indicators (KPI's) are achieved in a safe, efficient, and cost-effective manner, while maximizing plant and equipment reliability and availability.

• The incumbent will be responsible for managing and ensuring that the maintenance and operational resources and key performance indicators (KPI's) are achieved in a safe, efficient, and cost-effective manner, while maximizing plant and equipment reliability and availability.

Job Responsibilities

• Plans, coordinates, and executes both operations and maintenance engineering efforts to achieve management objectives consistent with sound operational and engineering practices.
• Reviews the operation of plant equipment and systems to minimize unplanned downtime, anticipates problems in a timely manner, and identifies opportunities for improvement using the Line Diagnostic System (LDS).
• Tracks, analyses and improves key maintenance parameters such as overall equipment effectiveness (OEE), asset utilization, maintenance cost, PM compliance, predictive maintenance and condition-based maintenance schedule compliance.
• Promotes safety awareness within the department and makes recommendations on safety issues to Management and ensures that the work environment is hazard free.
• Liaises with contractors to ensure external equipment repairs are completed as per agreed timelines and of a high quality in accordance with the ISO standards (9001:2015, 22000, 18000).
• Oversees and manages requisitions originating within the Department for equipment, supplies or services, and approves invoices for payment of items connected with repair, construction and installation projects.
• Makes recommendations to Management on capital expenditure projects, for inclusion into the company’s annual business plan.
• Ensures all inputs in the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system are completed within the specified timeframes.
• Provides the Purchasing and Stores Department with information on stock and spares requirements and usage.
• Assists in stock analysis and provides adequate specifications to ensure that items purchased are of the requisite quality.
• Produces monthly departmental reports, special reports and studies as required.
• Sets performance objectives of subordinate staff and identifies training and developmental needs.
• Ensures compliance with all company policies and procedures as well as governmental and internationally accepted safety standards.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from a recognized university.
• Three (3) to five (5) years’ experience in a food processing or manufacturing environment.
• At least three (3) years supervisory experience
