The Employee Relations Assistant is responsible for providing administrative and operational support to the Senior Professional, Employee and Industrial Relations inclusive of general clerical, scheduling of meetings, document control and the preparation of reports and correspondence.

Education Requirements
  • Associate Degree in Human Resource Management or a related field or Diploma in Industrial Relations.

Knowledge Requirements
  • Knowledge of human resource, employee relations principles and practices.
Experience
  • A minimum of two (2) years’ experience in industrial relations or employee relations.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct research into employee relations matters compiling data and preparing fact sheets and reports as requested.
  • Develop and maintain a document control system for the Department in collaboration with the Senior Professional, Employee and Industrial Relations.
  • Assist in HR projects and other initiatives by providing support, including research, data gathering, and report generation.
  • Support the coordination of meetings and training sessions, preparing agenda and documentation, confirming attendees, and reservation of facilities (i.e., room, equipment, stationery, refreshments, etc.) as required.
  • Record, transcribe, and distribute minutes of meetings.
  • Answer phone and email inquiries, direct calls and provide basic information.
  • Maintains office supplies inventory by checking stock to determine inventory level, anticipates needed supplies, evaluates new office products, places and expedites orders for supplies, and verifies receipt of supplies.
  • Provides administrative support inclusive of but not limited to preparing correspondence, handling mail, photocopying, and circulation of documents.
