Description:

Through extensive hands-on training in real-world environments, the Certificate in Music Technology programme prepares students for successful careers in Music Production, Audio Recording and Engineering, Post-production, Theatre, Concert and Festival Sound, Forensic Audio and Archiving, among others.

The programme offers students the opportunity to take charge of recording and mixing sessions across various genres of the Caribbean and other music; to experience posting audio for film, television and video games; to learn the skills necessary to provide a quality sonic experience for live concerts and multimedia theatre events; all this, utilizing the latest professional digital audio equipment and software, as well as classic analog technology.

The University has also partnered with the world leader of innovation and design Apple on creating the Apple Authorized Centre for Education Programme

Entry Requirements

  • Passes in a minimum of five (5) subjects at CXC (CSEC) General Proficiency level in Grades I or II and from 1998, Grade III or equivalent GCE O' Levels including Grades A, B or C in Mathematics and English Language; Physics or Music is an asset.
  • Certificate of Completion from an NTA or NEC Level 1 Sound Engineering course or equivalent.
  • A portfolio demonstrating evidence of creative/artistic aptitude.

Note: Applicants without the minimum academic qualifications but with relevant industry experience or who demonstrate strong creative output may also apply.
