Driver /Bearer- Kingston

The Driver/Bearer contributes to the day-to-day affairs of facility while operating an assigned SOS Children’s Village vehicle. The driver will be responsible for the transportation of staff, delivery and the collection of important documents/equipment to and from requested destinations.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Maintain the assigned vehicle in a clean and orderly condition, operating it with utmost care.
• Safely transport staff and authorized personnel to designated locations.
• Promptly deliver and collect important documents or equipment from specified locations.
• Ensure all required documentation (e.g., insurance, fitness, registration) is up to date.
• Use gas card strictly following the established procedures.
• Report any accidents as per regulations and prepare and submit the necessary reports.
• Assist in inspecting vehicle repairs and maintenance, ensuring they are completed as required.

Required Knowledge and Skills

• The driver will need to be patient and level-headed to be able to deal directly with adults and children of varying backgrounds.
• Knowledge of defensive driving techniques
• Knowledge of the Road Traffic Act
• Written and oral communication skills
• Reliability, confidentiality, honesty and unquestionable integrity is a must
• Team player
• Good interpersonal and communication skills
• Motor vehicle maintenance an asset

Required Education and Experience

• High School/Secondary School Certificate
• A valid Open General Driver’s License with at least 5 years driving experience.
• Operate vehicles safely and responsibly as assigned
• 3 years’ experience in bearer duties
