Drafting Technician

 

Principal Responsibilities

  1. CAD Drafting: Create detailed technical drawings and blueprints using CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Revit). Develop plans, elevations, sections, and detailed drawings for various projects.
  2. Technical Documentation: Prepare and maintain project documentation, including specifications, schematics, and diagrams. Ensure all drawings comply with industry standards and company guidelines.
  3. Collaboration: Work closely with engineers, architects, and designers to understand project requirements and specifications. Incorporate feedback and revisions into designs as needed.
  4. Quality Control: Review and check drawings for accuracy, completeness, and adherence to project specifications. Identify and resolve design discrepancies and errors.
  5. File Management: Organize and maintain digital files and drawings in the project database. Ensure proper version control and documentation of changes.
  6. Project Support: Assist in the preparation of project estimates, timelines, and material lists. Provide technical support during the construction or manufacturing phases.
  7. Standards Compliance: Stay updated with the latest industry standards, codes, and regulations. Ensure all designs comply with relevant safety and quality standards.
  8. Innovation and Improvement: Suggest improvements to design processes and tools to enhance efficiency and accuracy. Keep abreast of new CAD software features and advancements.
  9. Perform routine engineering and surveying assignments as may be periodically assigned.
  10. Perform topographic and measurement surveys in the field to support engineering analysis utilizing GNSS, total station, automatic level, drone & hydrographic equipment. Perform Geographic Information System (GIS) analysis and create maps

EDUCATION/SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Education: Certificate or Associate's degree in Drafting, CAD Technology, Engineering Technology, or a related field (Bachelor's degree preferred).
  • Experience: 2-4 years of experience in drafting and CAD design, preferably in an engineering or construction environment, would be a plus.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, Civil 3d, Revit), Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Certifications: Certification in CAD or Drafting is a plus. Holder of a valid driver’s licence
