Deputy Head of News

1.         Job Function

The Deputy Head of News is responsible for leading and managing the department in the planning, production and presentation of news stories and features for TTT Ltd Media Network. The employee will also oversee the production and distribution of the news for the Network and social media. All activities must conform to organizational guidelines and standards and to all legal requirements of the industry.

2.         Principal Duties and Responsibilities

1. Works with the Head of News and Current Affairs to define and maintain ethical, editorial, artistic and technical standards for broadcast news programmes.
2. Directs the activities of the news staff to develop stories, track issues and events, select Journalists for coverage, schedule stories for airing and posting
3. Serves as primary editor to ensure news reports are produced in an effective, timely and responsible manner
4. Contributes content to the daily news products
5. Assists in goal setting/performance management within the department

1. Performs all other duties relevant to the position and which will foster a culture of team building and accountability
2. Participate in the performance management process adhering to all guidelines
3. Support the development and maintenance of a team environment by performing other related duties.

4.         Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism or a related field
• Certification in Communication
• Minimum of five (5) years experience in a similar position
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office
