The incumbent will manage customs functions for CDC and CBL, overseeing the timely preparation of customs documentation, payment of duties, and ensuring compliance with customs laws and procedures. They will ensure prompt cargo clearance from ports.
Job Summary
The incumbent will manage the customs functions of the companies (CDC and CBL). Directs controls and leads the timely preparation of customs documentation and payment of relevant duties and charges ensuring that all company shipments meet and adhere to customs laws and procedures. Ensures that cargoes are cleared from ports in a timely manner.
Job Responsibilities
Manages and leads strategic implementation of imported goods.
Develops and implements various measures to improve the operational efficiency of the Customs department and ensures that Company’s policies and procedures are enforced.
Ensures that timely submissions of applications to the relevant Government authorities are made to acquire the relevant licence (s) for the importation of goods.
Ensure that invoices and related documents for all aspects of importation are followed up and received on a timely basis.
Ensure that all Customs bonds and licence (s) are renewed on or before their expiry date.
Manages the departmental budget and implements strategies to manage costs in line with the overall objectives of the Division.
Manages the performance of subordinate personnel and provides advice, coaching, guidance, instruction and direction and initiates relevant developmental training programmes for subordinates.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software.
Skills in Total Quality Management.
Strong supervisory and leadership skills
The ability to prepare concise and informative reports.
Qualifications & Experience
A Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Logistics.
Customs Brokers License or Certified Customs Specialist
At least ten (10) years’ experience in a similar environment.
Keen knowledge of import/export regulations.
