Credit Manager

JOB SUMMARY:

This position is responsible for providing competent oversight and prudent management of the company’s overall credit risk to minimize losses from bad debts. It ensures the company maintains a healthy cash flow by efficiently converting receivables into cash through timely collections.  The position also exists to contribute to profitability through sales by timely analysis and decision on release of held orders.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensure adherence to credit control and collection policies.
  • Develop effective collection techniques and train team members in its execution.
  • Monitor the AR sub-ledger to maintain Days Sales Outstanding (DSO) within industry standards.
  • Develop and implement Accounts Receivable reconciliation templates to minimize disputes on customer statements.
  • Collaborate with Sales Managers, Sales Supervisor and Sales Representatives for efficient collections.
  • Conduct monthly AR meetings with Credit Officers to review accounts.
  • Build relationships with customers, negotiate collections, and assess credit risk.
  • Oversee periodic credit limit reviews and evaluate creditworthiness.
  • Lead reconciliation and collections for government and corporate accounts.
  • Maintain relationships with senior executives to facilitate payments.
  • Analyze AR Aging Reports, Bad & Doubtful Debts, and collection performance KPIs.
  • Monitor order release processes for efficiency.
  • Provide necessary credit reports for management and sales meetings.
  • Supervise staff performance and set targets.
  • Handle credit control and collection queries.
  • Engage with industry professionals and credit management bodies.
  • Manage departmental budget and participate in budget reviews.
  • Initiate legal proceedings for outstanding debts and represent the company in court.
  • Undertake additional tasks as directed by CFO and Managing Director.

MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management/Management Studies with a focus on:  Managerial Accounting and Financial Analysis, Economics, Business Law, Organizational Theory and Behavior.
  • 10 years’ experience in senior Risk Management ,Credit Control, Collections and Receivables Management
  • Certification in Collection Techniques

  • Excellent Networking and Negotiating Skills.
