POSITION TITLE:

Corporate Communications Officer

(Contract Position)

POSITION GRADE:

Grade 2 (b)

DEPARTMENT:

Sales and Marketing

REPORTS TO (JOB TITLE):

The position reports to:

  • ● Sales and Marketing Manager

 

 

A. POSITION PURPOSE:

The Corporate Communications Officer reports to the Sales and Marketing Manager and is responsible for crafting and implementing communication strategies that elevate EMBD’s image, engage stakeholders and ensure clear and consistent messaging, foster positive relationships with both internal teams and external audiences while maintaining brand integrity and managing crisis situations effectively.

 

B. MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develops and execute comprehensive communication strategies to effectively reach targeted audiences.
  • Monitors national, regional and international news to identify evolving trends and opinions which may impact the work of EMBD.
  • Creates and updates a database/directory of stakeholders’ contact information, profiles and services
  • Creates compelling content for newsletters, social media, website, and press releases.
  • Act as the organization's spokesperson, handling media inquiries and interviews.
  • Drafts and manages internal communication for dissemination to employees to keep them informed and engaged. 
  • Oversees the production of marketing materials, ensuring alignment with branding guidelines.
  • Monitors communication metrics to assess effectiveness and make necessary adjustments.
  • Cultivates and maintain relationships with media outlets and community leaders.
  • Provides communications support for special events and crisis situations.
  • Initiates and sustains professional relationships with key internal and/or external constituencies.

D. QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, BEHAVIOURAL AND TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES:                                                           

Qualifications: Minimum

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing or related discipline.

Experience: Desired

  • Three (3) to five (5) years’ experience in the field of communications or public relations.
  • Experience in Public Sector/State Enterprise will be considered an asset.

Behavioural Competencies: Desired

  • Ability to identify communications-related risks and opportunities and to provide timely feedback and advice to management.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal skills and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Willingness to respond promptly to internal and external needs.
  • Ability to deliver results which add value to the department and the organization.
  • Skill in writing and editing, including a strong command of English.

Technical Competencies: Desired

  • Knowledge of current theories and practices in communications research and the role of the media.
  • Working knowledge in Estate Management.
  • Knowledge of Public Administration.
  • Knowledge of the Constitution of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago.
  • Considerable knowledge of social media platforms.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
