The ideal candidate will be the lead on all financial reporting ensuring full compliance of IFRS accounting standards. In addition to preparing financial reports that include our financial statements and disclosures, you will coordinate with external auditors as necessary.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Prepare and analyze financial statements monthly, including, income statement, balance sheet, and statement of cash flows
  • Manage the preparation of monthly business unit and consolidated financial statements for Trinidad
  • Create and manage the preparation of weekly and monthly reports to support departmental and business needs
  • Provide assistance to the VP Finance, Controller, and Manager of Financial Reporting on key accounting tasks/deliverables
  • Provide ad hoc financial reports, tables, exhibits as requested
  • Perform quality assurance and deliver recurring reports accurately and on-time
  • Play crucial role in implementing new software for department improvement and efficiency
  • Interface with other functional areas to ensure reporting integrity and accuracy
  • Partner with Management for analysis, planning and reporting needs
  • Report all findings to management with recommendations for improvement, and upon their approval, implement strategies to induce such change
  • Preparation of subsidiary financial statements
  • Assist with the quarterly and annual disclosure filings and liaising with external auditors
  • Assist with preparing and maintaining joint venture reporting
  • Review and post journal entries
  • Maintain confidentiality of our financial data
  • Assist with preparation and/or review of various tax filings and related documents
  • Preparation of short-term working capital forecasts
  • Internal control testing and process management
  • Ability to lead and develop a team
  • Any other duties as directed

EDUCATION, SKILLS AND TRAINING   

  • Undergraduate Degree in Finance, Business Management, Accounting or a related field
  • ACCA Qualifications or its' equivalent
  • MBA would be considered an asset
  • Certified public accountant (CPA) license strongly preferred
  • Excellent interpersonal and analytical skills
  • Detail oriented, ability to multi-task
  • Excellent problem solving and organizational skills
  • Experience with Joint Venture operations would be a key asset
