Leads the commercial team in developing and implementing strategies for the economic optimization of product trade and delivery services.

Leads the commercial team in developing and implementing strategies for the economic optimization of product trade and delivery services in a competitive global marketplace through prudent monitoring of market trends and successful management of price risks and customer relationships, to ensure maximum margin to the company, and drive decision making.
Key Accountabilities:
  • Develops and implements local and regional supply and trading strategies that maximize profitability while optimizing product imports/sales, ensuring cost effective and customer focused product dispatch and promoting continuous improvement of the scheduling and logistics process.
  • Drives the monitoring and analysis of the business unit’s performance (operational vs forecasted variance) to recommend corrective actions and optimization opportunities.
  • Directs the development of long-term (1-5 years) and short-term (up to 12 months) forecasting and operational support, including project justification, marketing business plans and budgeting activities.
  • Manages the trading risk within the delegated financial authorities.
  • Advises on commercial and operational risk components of spot and term deals
  • Drives management of customer/supplier contracts, relationships and new business development and ensures a strong external market focus through effective stakeholder and industry interactions.
  • Develops the Organizational Capability to grow and sustain business objectives including the development of commercial analytical capabilities for the Trading and Commercial team.
  • Ensures compliance to the annual audit plan, participates, reviews and implements recommendations from internal audit and investigations conducted to ensure adherence to appropriate internal controls.
  • Provides strong representation for the company with external stakeholders including Ministerial, Regulatory and Standards boards and agencies.
  • Ensures compliance to all relevant statutory and legislative requirements inclusive of Customs and Excise Regulations
  • Ensures all activities are conducted and managed in accordance with Paria’s policies and procedures, Health, Safety and Environmental practices and procedures as outlined in the business unit’s HSE management system.
  • Undertakes any other assignments required from time to time, to fulfil the job purpose.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • BSc. in Marketing/ Economics/ Finance/ Chemical Engineering

AND

  • A minimum of 10 years in the oil and gas environment (industry), of which 5 (5) years have included Business Planning, Petroleum Product Supply and Logistics and Petroleum Product Marketing and Trading at a senior level
  • Experience in Marketing/Economics, Scheduling and Customer Relations, is essential. 

Preferred:

An MBA or MSc. would be considered an asset
