Our client, National Flour Mills (NFM) is seeking to fill the position of Chief Information Officer (CIO)

JOB SUMMARY

The CIO will lead the organisation’s ICT strategy, ensuring alignment with business goals and driving digital transformation to support the company’s aggressive growth and innovation agenda. The incumbent will oversee the ICT department, manage technology investments, and ensure robust, secure, and scalable ICT infrastructure.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Strategic Leadership:

• Develop and execute a comprehensive ICT strategy aligned with NFM’s corporate objectives and strategic goals.
• Act as a key advisor to the executive team by monitoring the business needs, technology trends, opportunities and risk.
• Foster a culture of innovation to leverage technology for operational excellence and competitive advantage.
• Manage issues proactively, including timely resolution and identification of remediation opportunities. Identify and resolve systemic issues to prevent them from repeating.
• Prepare reports to the CEO regarding the health of IT and any technology initiatives.

1. Digital Transformation:

• Drive digital transformation initiatives, including automation, data analytics, and process optimisation, to enhance efficiency and decision-making.
• Analyse the costs, value, and risks of existing and emerging technology to advise management and suggest changes and modernisation.
• Lead the integration of advanced technologies to improve product quality, supply chain management, and customer experience.

1. ICT Operations and Security:

• Manage the design of customised software specific to the organisation’s needs.
• Oversee ICT operations, ensuring reliable and secure technology services across all business units.
• Design, develop and implement policies and procedures for all areas of IT including cybersecurity to safeguard company data and systems.
• Manage ICT infrastructure, ensuring scalability to support the organisation’s growth.

1. Project Management and Implementation:

• Oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of major ICT projects, ensuring they are on time, within scope, and budget.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and implement technology solutions that address business challenges.

1. Team Leadership:

• Build and develop a high-performing and qualified ICT team, fostering professional growth and development.
• Promote collaboration between the ICT department and other business units to ensure seamless integration of technology solutions.

1. Budget and Vendor Management:

• Leads the research, analysis, procurement and implementation of new devices, software applications, operating systems and communications technologies.
• Prepare and manage the ICT department’s budget, ensuring cost-effective technology investments.
• Lead the negotiations of Service Level Agreements with vendors and service providers, ensuring quality and cost efficiency in IT procurement and services (in collaboration with the Procurement Department).

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

• MBA or equivalent with a BSc in Computer Science.
• Minimum of ten (10) years of progressive ICT leadership experience of which, five (5) should be in a senior management role.
• Proven track record of successfully implementing digital transformation initiatives.
• Experience in the manufacturing will be an asset.
