The Children's Authority of Trinidad and Tobago is a specialized agency with the responsibility for the care and protection of children, especially those who are at risk or have been victims of abuse or neglect.

The Children's Authority of Trinidad and Tobago is seeking to recruit for a Case Management Officer, on contract.

The main role of the Case Management Officer is to oversee and coordinate the provision of services and support to children who are at risk or have experienced abuse, neglect or other forms of maltreatment.  This involves undertaking comprehensive assessments and interventions involving children, parents, and families, to determine their needs and develop plans to address those needs ensuring the safety, rehabilitation and wellbeing of the child.  All these services will be delivered in keeping with best practice, while respecting and promoting the rights of the child.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counselling or related field.
  • Certificate in Conflict/Crisis Management/ De-escalation.
  • Training in CPR and First Aid will be an asset.
  • At least 4 years’ experience in a Social Services field with experience working with children and/or families. 

Principal Accountabilities/ Key Functions:

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments of children and their families to evaluate each child based on their needs, limitations, and conditions to determine applicable case management approaches.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of care plans and transition plans for children and families, and monitor the progress of case plans and the child's situation to ensure effective service delivery to meet the child's needs.
  • Conduct investigative interviews with victims and other stakeholders in cases assigned by Team Lead(s) to determine the safety of children who are subjects of reports of abuse, neglect, and/or abandonment, in a manner that results in minimal trauma to the child.
  • Advocate for the children within the child welfare system to uphold their rights and best interests.
  • Provide immediate support and interventions in crisis situations to ensure the child's safety and address urgent needs.
  • Participate in the recruitment and approval of foster care providers by conducting assessments, interviews, and reference checks where necessary.
  • Conduct regular monitoring visits at school and home as part of the intervention plan with children, families, and providers within the foster care system.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed records of all interactions, assessments, and interventions related to the case, including personal history, interventions, and action plans related to each child, in the Child Protection Information Management System.
  • Prepare court reports and updates, and attend court as part of a team advocating for the child.
  • Establish and maintain cooperative relationships with community residences and agencies providing support services.
  • Supervise/Monitor employee productivity and provide constructive feedback and coaching.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the Team Lead.
