The Carpenter will work as part of the Maintenance team at the Crane to assist with the maintenance, upkeep and replacement of the property's cosmetic materials and supplies with regards to all aspects of carpentry.

The Opportunity- Carpenter

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced, skilled and highly motivated individual join our Property Operating Maintenance Team.  The Carpenter will work as part of the Maintenance team at the Crane to assist with the maintenance, upkeep and replacement of the property's cosmetic materials and supplies with regards to all aspects of carpentry. He/She will also assist in other areas of Maintenance as assigned.  

 

Applications open to Barbadian nationals or persons with permission to reside and work in Barbados.

 

Summary of Main Duties:

  • Install, maintain, replace or repair furniture, ceiling tiles, grid work, fasteners, doors, walls, sliding glass doors, framework, cabinetry, hinges, locks and closers. Prepare all drink orders for guests according to outlet recipes.
  • Repair all types of special fabricated furniture such as chairs, cabinets, tables and benches. 
  • Assemble and install cabinetwork, partitions, permanent structures, walls and ceilings.
  • Develop specifications based on blueprint and drawings.
  • Prepare and complete all logs, service requests, paperwork, etc. 
  • Handle chemicals for designated uses/surfaces.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the work area to include:
      • Inventories
      • Requisition (receipt & storage)
      • Trash removal and clean up.

 

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • At least one-year experience in a similar role.
  • Working knowledge of all crafts and equipment in carpentry, cabinetry and decorating wall covering and vinyl.
  • Working knowledge of the architectural, structural, federal/local fire codes and interior design.
  • Knowledge of how to layout minor renovation projects and proper materials to be used. 
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time, enduring various physical movements including stretching, pushing and bending.
  • Flexibility to work on weekends, holidays, and evenings as scheduled.
