Business Development Officer

CORE FUNCTIONS

The Business Development Officer will be required to:

  • Grow the portfolio of individual members to meet the credit union’s targets in terms of membership, deposits, loans, and other products by focusing on establishing new relationships and cross-selling to current members.
  • Execute and Track sales calls and activities by scheduling, attending preparing and filing sales total reports and call reports.
  • Keep fully abreast with knowledge of full range of the credit unions’ products and services to enable prompt matching of their potential benefits with the current and perceived needs of existing and new members.
  • Be conversant with and well achieved in a practical proficiency of the “Know Your Customer” requirement of the anti-money laundering act and according to legislations and/or regulations.

Minimum Educational Requirements:

Specific Knowledge (however acquired) Required to Start:

  • Sound knowledge of financial products and services,
  • Good knowledge of laws, government and jurisprudence relating to the financial sector
  • A good awareness of the local and relevant regional anti-money laundering acts/draft legislation

Qualifications & Experience

  • Tertiary level education e.g., First Degree in Marketing, Banking, Finance Management or Business Administration.
  • Minimum of one – two (1-2) years working experience in a financial institution and training in Professional Sales.
  • Must have a driver's licence and a reliable motor vehicle

Responsibilities & Duties

  • Maintains up to date knowledge of full range of Credit Union’s products and services and seeks every opportunity to market same by matching their potential benefits with the current and perceived needs of existing and new members.
  • Maintain a list of an agreed minimum number of prospects (i.e. potential new members).
  • Schedule and attend to at least 50 calls monthly with current members and prospects in accordance with agreed activity targets.
  • Prepare call reports in accordance with an agreed standard within one week after the completion of a call.
  • Prepare and deliver product and credit union-based presentations to enhance the prospect of new member entrants at a rate agreed upon with General Manager.
  • Prepare proposals for personal credit facilities by:Interviewing and assessing memebers to determining their requirements.
  • Collect all relevant documents for proposed credit facilities for submission to the credit department
  • Liaise with and advise members when facilities are approved
  • Develop and execute promotional strategies that will increase the likelihood of increasing futrure sales of products and services.
  • Track the critical mass of new accounts by number, monetary value of prinicipal of both loans and depostits ane revenunes earned successfully closed or established by his /her efforts.  
  • Send Short Message Service (SMS), Birthday recognition and condolence messages and keep records up to date
  • Monitor and update information on the website and all social media platforms. 
  • Data mine to ensure that all members maintain a minimum of three to four  
  • products and cross sell on a regular basis.  
  • Monitor marketing inventory & supplies
  • Be conversant with and be able to provide current quotes on rate or price senstive products offered by the Credit Union.
  • Assist with the co-ordination of the marketing activities
  • Assist with the production of publications, promotional materials including quarterly newsletter
  • Adheres to company and statutory policies, procedures and guidelines.
