Bartender for Restaurant. Location: Port of Spain. Only skilled and experienced applicants will be selected. Work days per week - 6 Shif Operations - mid and late

JOB TITLE:                          Bartender

REPORTS TO:                    Restaurant Manager

JOB SUMMARY:

Responsible for the management of all aspects and functions of the BAR, in accordance with industry and the company standards. Directs, implements and maintains BAR service within the company, and ensures that customers are served promptly & courteously. Ensure to oversee the employees of the BAR, hygiene and safety regulations, along with oversight in purchasing and inventory of supplies.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Regulations and Policies:

  • Maintain complete knowledge and strictly abide by regulatory liquor regulations.
  • Inspect all aspects of the BAR environment ensuring compliance with standards of cleanliness and direct respective personnel to rectify deficiencies in a timely manner
  • Adhere to all safety and quality regulations.
  • Follow all company policies and procedures and ensure members of your team complies with the same.

Inventory and Supply:

  • Inspect, plan and ensure that all materials and equipment are in complete readiness for service; rectify deficiencies with respective personnel.
  • Ensure the inventory and storage of the BAR is at required standards, following all procedures and policies, including but not limited to:
    • Establish par levels for supplies, liquor, beer, wine and equipment.
    • Complete requisitions to replenish shortages or additional items needed for the anticipated business.
    • Working to ensure ample beverage purchases, inventories and stock levels within the operation.
    • Conducting daily inventory of the BAR, and participating in general stock check, and ensuring to regularly check storage areas for proper supplies, organisation and cleanliness.
    • Inspect quality and amounts of raw materials eg. garnishes, ensuring agreement to departmental standards.

 Customer Service and Creativity:

  • Work with Front of House and Kitchen Team to ensure smooth flow of service and an impeccable dining experience.
  • Be familiar with all services/features at THE COMPANY to respond to customer inquiries accurately
  • Responding promptly in acknowledging client presence, and ensuring to anticipate customer needs.
  • Resolve complaints, ensuring customer satisfaction.
  • Creation of cocktails/menu to be reviewed by Executive Chef.
  • Keeping up to date with local and international trends in order to bring innovation and ingenuity to the BAR.
  • To increase the overall revenue and profit margin, ensure to market our products and offerings in an effort to maximize sales and enhance the customer's experience and satisfaction

 General Operations and Marketing:

  • Ensuring proper update of the Point of sale (POS) terminal for items related to the BAR area.
  • Cashing and ensure to operate by all Finance guidelines and polices for opening and closing.
  • Review sales and beverage costs for previous day; resolve discrepancies with Finance. Track actual against budgeted targets.
  • Participate in Marketing initiatives, brining ideas and concepts to the team and executing as needed.

Any other related duties as may be assigned from time to time.

 REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Active listening and effective communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
  • Good personal presentation skills.
  • Attentive, friendly, polite and helpful with customers.
  • Patient and diplomatic when dealing with complaints, and ability to solve problems.
  • Strong knowledge of mixology, spirits, wine, champagne, and mixed cocktails.
  • Solid understanding of all safety and health protocols.
  • Versed in stock taking and reporting. 
  • Tech Savvy.
  • Ability to work in a standing position for long periods of time.

 QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Certification in hospitality, tertiary education in business or a similar field is an asset.
  • Full high-school certificate.
  • 5+ years of experience in upscale bartending with 3+ years Supervisory experience.
  • Hands-on experience with cash register and ordering information system.
  • Available to work on holidays and weekends
  • Any equivalent combination of qualifications, experience and skills may also be accepted.
