Assistant Manager - Occupational Health and Safety

Maintain Occupational Health & Safety Program throughout the CB Group in compliance with the GOJ Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Regulations and other internationally recognized requirements as appropriate.

Main Function:

Maintain Occupational Health & Safety Program throughout the CB Group in compliance with the GOJ Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Regulations and other internationally recognized requirements as appropriate.

• Conduct safety training and education programs, and demonstrate the use of safety equipment
• Create, implement and continuously revise an online annual safety training course for the Group
• Inspect and evaluate workplace environments, equipment and practices, in order to ensure compliance with safety standards and government regulations
• Investigate accidents to identify root causes, determine preventative measures and conduct appropriate training
• Maintain and update emergency response plans and procedures
• Recommend measures to help protect workers from potentially hazardous work methods, processes, or materials
• Investigate the adequacy of ventilation, exhaust equipment, lighting, and other conditions that could affect employee health, comfort, or performance
• Inspect specified areas to ensure the presence of fire prevention equipment, safety equipment, and first-aid supplies
• Liaise with stakeholders to ensure that Factories regulations certificates are up to date
• Follow-up to ensure that corrective actions, including those arising from internal audits, are promptly addressed
• Escalate corrective action requirements as needed in a timely manner
• Liaise with EHSS team, Safety Monitors, First Aiders, Accident Investigators, Plant managers and regulatory authorities (as directed by department head) on safety matters, to ensure that the safety systems are being adequately designed, implemented and improved
• Maintain and further develop the CB Group OHS program in accordance with global Industry standards
• Report on weekly summary of OHS activities
• Contribute to P&C Top 5 summary monthly
• Assist with the response to accidents as directed by Group Manager 
• Ensure that all relevant KPIs are tracked and improved where needed to add value to the organization

Demonstrated Knowledge, Skills, Experience

• B.Sc. In Occupational and Environmental Safety and Health or Business Degree 
• EHS Certification
• Proficiency in preparing suitable training programs for EHSS, QA and other employees as needed
• OHS/ ISO 45000 knowledge would be an asset
• Competent in the use of MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint
• Possess good presentation skills to conduct training and presentations
• Ability to interview and counsel employees, particularly in regard to health and wellness issues and practices
