The Assistant Manager- Credit has a pivotal role responsible for overseeing a team of Credit Officers. The incumbent will manage, market, and sell the bank’s products and services, conduct thorough risk assessments of clients’ business profiles, and manage delinquency portfolios

The Assistant Manager-  Credit has a pivotal role responsible for overseeing a team of Credit Officers. The incumbent will manage, market, and sell the bank’s products and services, conduct thorough risk assessments of clients’ business profiles, and manage delinquency portfolios. This role requires independent judgment on technical financial matters and is subject to periodic audits and reviews by the Manager of Credit and Business Development.

Major Responsibilities

  • Marketing and Sales: Promote the bank’s products and services; conduct site visits to customers.
  • Daily Operations: Review daily disbursements.
  • Financial Analysis: Analyze clients’ business financials.
  • Underwriting: Assess clients' export potential and prepare comprehensive underwriting packages.
  • Credit Analysis Presentation: Present credit analyses to management and the board.
  • Securities Evaluation: Evaluate clients’ securities assignments.
  • Portfolio Management: Maintain and manage a portfolio of high-risk clients.
  • Reporting: Prepare various reports for clients, management, and the board, including budgets and IFRS-9.
  • Delinquency Management: Oversee and manage delinquent portfolios.
  • Supervision: Supervise and guide a small team of credit officers/data processors.
  • Training: Train new credit officers/data processors.
  • Guidance: Provide ongoing support and guidance to credit officers/data processors.
  • Application Review: Review Forex and FAS applications.
  • Additional Duties: Perform any other related duties as required.

Minimum Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in management, Finance, or a related field.
  • Experience: Five years of relevant work experience, including at least one year in a supervisory role.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Financial Acumen: Deep understanding of financial principles and practices.
  • Marketing Knowledge: Familiarity with marketing principles and practices.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Awareness of Trinidad and Tobago Financial Acts (FIU, Central Bank, FIA, Insurance, etc.).
  • Communication: Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Judgment: Ability to analyze financial statements and make sound decisions.
  • Security Assessment: Proficiency in evaluating securities and determining their potential.
  • Supervisory Skills: Ability to plan, organize, and supervise a team effectively.
  • Reporting: Capability to prepare comprehensive and informative reports and presentations.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Ability to maintain effective working relationships with subordinates, managers, and colleagues.
  • Decision Making: Strong judgment in researching and analyzing facts.
  • Time Management: Effective time management skills.
  • Stress Management: Ability to perform well under stressful conditions.
  • Technical Proficiency: Competence in using computers and various software tools.
  • Teamwork: Ability to work collaboratively within a team.
