JOB SUMMARY
The Assistant Maintenance Manager is responsible for the general upkeep and maintenance of the resort's facility and grounds. The incumbent is a member of the Couples Tower Isle’s Management Team and reports directly to the Maintenance Manager. This position includes day to day schedule of repairs to the resort and the installation of electrical and plumbing systems and equipment.
The incumbent will be required to:
Duties & responsibilities are not limited to but include assisting the Maintenance Manager with the management of:
- Arranging for routine maintenance in hotel rooms, facilities and property in general.
- Inspecting the hotel regularly to ensure it meets safety standards.
- Agreeing and managing budgets expenses and activity logs.
- Planning and overseeing renovations and construction.
- Organizing repair projects in a manner that does not disturb guests.
- Ensuring compliance with licensing, hygiene and health and safety legislation/guidelines.
- Acting fast to resolve emergency issues, i.e., issues that directly impacts the comfort and effectiveness of employees, guest experience and preservation of company assets.
- Finding ways to reduce hotel operating costs and conserve energy.
- Handling administrative duties.
- Managing relationships with contractors and service providers.
- Manage disciplinary and grievance issues.
- Demonstrate sound knowledge to design and maintain an effective Preventative Maintenance Programme.
- Develop and maintain the Engineering Operations Manual so as to include the schedule and detailed content of the Ken-Fix-It programme.
- See to the correct planning, budgeting and development of new projects, always using the guides laid down in Couples Resorts Project Memorandum.
The successful candidate should have:
- Bachelor’s Degree or Professional Certification from a recognized Institution in Mechanical, Electrical or Industrial Engineering.
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience in a similar position in a luxurious All-Inclusive Resort.
- Certification in HVAC.
- Proven track record in successfully trouble-shooting engineering–related problems.
- Knowledge in all fields of repairs and maintenance (inverter-type air conditioning units, stoves, chillers and laundry equipment).
- Sound knowledge of HACCP programme.
- The ability to communicate effectively at all levels.
- The ability to train, coach and motivate a team.
- The ability to work flexible hours.
- The ability to work well under pressure in a customer-centric and fast-paced environment.
