Assistant Garage Manager
Minimum Qualifications:
- Certificate or Associate Degree in Mechanical Engineering (preferred).
- Valid General Driver’s License for motor cars and trucks up to 4,000 kg.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Proficiency in computer applications, including email, MS Word, and Excel.
- Experience in mechanical and electrical repairs and maintenance of heavy equipment such as tractors, bulldozers, and trucks.
- Ability to work effectively in a dynamic environment.
Reporting Relationships:
- Directly reports to the Fleet Manager.
- Additionally, reports to the General Manager of Agricultural Operations as required.
Main Responsibilities:
1. Coordinate daily and weekly garage operations with the Fleet Manager, including repairs and maintenance for a fleet of over 150 vehicles, including rubber-wheeled tractors, grab loaders, sugarcane harvesters, bulldozers, trucks, and motor vehicles.
2. Communicate and coordinate with external contractors and service providers to ensure timely and efficient operations.
3. Assist the Fleet Manager in ordering and maintaining an appropriate inventory of spare parts.
4. Manage a team of mechanics, welders, and electricians, ensuring tasks are completed efficiently and safely.
5. Maintain discipline and foster motivation among team members.
6. Perform any other duties assigned by management.
