Assistant Accountant

A successful company operating in the city of Montego Bay with over forty-two (42) years of rich history is current seeking to employ the services of a young, energetic and vibrant Assistant Accountant. The Assistant Accountant is expected to be a full-time position working at least five (5) days per week. The Assistant Accountant is expected to report to the entity’s Accountant.

 

The following entails the minimum qualifications and attributes of the Assistant Account:

  • Ideally a bachelors’ degree in accounting, finance or management
  • ACCA Level two
  • Minimum two (2) years working in similar capacity
  • Prior knowledge of a computerized accounting software
  • Prior knowledge of computerized payroll application
  • Excellent knowledge and skills in the use of Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Excellent analytical skills
  • Excellent written and oral communication skill
  • Confidence and comfort with communicating at all levels
  • Excellent team player
  • Strong integrity and flexibility with working on a weekend if possible

 

The following tasks will be required of the proposed Assistant Accountant:

  • Assist with managing the accounts payable subsidiary ledger
  • Assist with reconciling the accounts payable subsidiary ledger monthly
  • Application of payment to suppliers’ accounts on a timely manner
  • Assist with the management of the entity’s petty cash on an impress system
  • Providing assistance with the management of wholesale customer accounts
  • Applying payment to wholesale supplier accounts
  • Provide assistance with the daily reconciliation of credit card clearing accounts
  • Provide assistance with the reconciliation of cash clearing accounts
  • Assist with the reconciliation of various related party accounts daily and weekly
  • Provide assistance with the recording of various accruals and pre-payment to the entity’s general ledger
  • Assist with the preparation of payment for approval by the entity’s CFO
  • Assist with the preparation of weekly expenditure approval by management
  • Assist with the review of time sheet for the preparation of payroll by the entity’s Accountant
  • Assist with keeping appropriate filing of various supporting documents from the entity’s supplier
  • Providing assistance with the maintenance of the entity’s fixed assts’ register
  • Providing assistance with month end and year end inventory counts
  • Any other tasks assigned by the company’s Accountant
