Assists with the maintenance of the Company's records and the preparation of accounting reports and data to ensure that timely and accurate accounting information is disseminated to management and the NAGICO Group for decision making and for clients.

SPECIFIC ACCOUNTABILITIES

  1. Manage the monthly financial statement close process in line with Group deliverables and deadlines
  2. Responsible for the accuracy of the General and all Sub Ledgers (Accounts payable, Accounts Receivable and Fixed Assets) and all associated transactions therein.
  3. Daily oversight of the Accounts Receivables, Accounts Payables, Cashier and General Ledger Function ensuring accuracy in these areas
  4. Monthly/quarterly and annual variance analysis as part of the financial close reporting process
  5. Support in the preparation of board and other various reports
  6. Preparation of all required general journals
  7. Preparation of monthly general and sub ledger reconciliations
  8. Provide support in coordination of internal and external audits and preparation of Audit schedules.
  9. Preparation of Regulatory and Statutory Reporting and Payments. Ensuring adherence to all Regulatory and Tax legislation.
  10. Review Cashiers and related workflows.
  11. Ensure accuracy in commissions and claims payments
  12. Assist in the management of daily Claims payment Process and weekly reporting and reconciliations.
  13. Liaison with all key stakeholders e.g. Underwriting, Claims and Processing Departments Re: Claims, Policies and Premium processing
  14. Provide key support to the Territory Head
  15. Perform any other duties related to the job not mentioned herein

MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE

¨  A minimum of three (3) years’ experience in an accounting environment

¨  Proficient use of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Adobe PDF)

¨  At least Level II ACCA and or a bachelor’s degree in Accounting

¨  Must be knowledgeable of –

  • Accounting Standards
  • Relevant laws, regulations and guidelines

¨  Any equivalent combination of training and experience.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

¨  All staff in the absence of the Operations Manager
