 Accounting Clerk

We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized accounting clerk to join our accounting team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing petty cash, reconciliation of customers’ accounts, assisting with accounts payables, apply payments correctly to customer’s accounts.

  • Core Functions
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date accounting records and documentation for all activities and transactions.
  • Monitor accounts receivables and payables, ensuring accurate invoicing and the timely collections from customers and settlement of outstandings
  • Provide general accounting and administrative support to the Accounting, Sales and Warehouse teams, to include but not limited to data entry, invoicing, customer payments, statements, verifying accuracy of credit notes etc
  • Conduct reconciliations on customer accounts; report any discrepancies found, in adherence with established policies and procedures.
  • Ensure that over 90day balances are being reduced through following up on completed reconciliations with customers.
  • Support sales reps in collection of the company’s monies off the road.
  • Support and maintain the integrity of the Company’s accounting system, policies and standard.
  • Generate the relevant financial reports and analysis, on a timely basis.
  • Accurately apply cheques and bank transfers to customers’ accounts with immediate calls to customers whos’ payments doesn’t match outstanding balances.
  • Maintain accurate balances in the petty cash by ensuring all receipts are accounted for.
  • Hourly checking through various work groups to see payments that are sent in by sales reps and drivers.
  • Assist with commission calculations for sales reps.
  • Proper entry of stocks on the system
  • Daily lodgement preparation and dispatching to the company’s bank.

 

Minimum Requirement: Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities                           

First degree in Accounting, Management Studies, Business Administration, or professional accounting qualifications

  • Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in a similar position.
  • Expert knowledge of accounting procedures and principles.
  • Accounting Certification and knowledge of peach tree software would be an asset.
  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Suite, with strong emphasis on Excel.
  • Excellent human relations, communication, time management, organizational, critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Accounting Software and Bookkeeping skills
  • Highly professional, ethical and confidential with a track record of integrity.
