Accounting Assistant (permanent)

Location: Couva

Qualifications & Required Skills:

  • ACCA Level 1 certification
  • Minimum 3 years of accounting experience, including Accounts Payable, bank reconciliation, and account analysis
  • Minimum 1 year of experience using accounting software for Accounts Payable functions
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite and accounting software
  • Knowledge of local taxes and financial regulations
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in financial data processing
  • Ability to handle sensitive financial information with confidentiality

Key Responsibilities & Duties:

  • Validate and process vendor invoices, ensuring accuracy and adherence to internal controls
  • Prepare and execute vendor payments via cheques, wire transfers, and electronic funds transfer
  • Reconcile supplier statements and resolve outstanding invoices with vendors
  • Maintain and update the supplier database with accurate information
  • Ensure proper documentation and filing of all Accounts Payable records
  • Prepare cash forecasts and monitor bank balances to manage working capital effectively
  • Process VAT and other tax obligations accurately and ensure timely period-end accruals
  • Support debt management by preparing loan documents and reconciling outstanding obligations
  • Ensure compliance with financial policies, contracts, and inter-company payment policies
  • Assist auditors by providing required financial records and closing audit queries promptly
  • Handle petty cash requests, employee deposits, and receivables processing
