Salary Range: $6K-$8K

Job Summary:

The Accounting Assistant II is responsible for performing routine and repetitive clerical accounting and bookkeeping duties, following established procedures to ensure the effective and efficient processing of financial records. This role also supports payroll functions, including processing deductions and assisting with payroll inquiries, while maintaining high standards of customer service and professional conduct.

Job Requirements:

  • Provides prompt and quality customer service by projecting professionalism, courtesy, and initiative in accordance with established guidelines and policies.
  • Ensures effective and efficient service to both internal and external customers.
  • Relieves Cashier for lunch and other necessary breaks, ensuring smooth running of the Cashiers unit for up to 1 hour.
  • Reconciles named accounts and manages reconciliation of the Death & Maturity claims, APL & Loan register, and miscellaneous suspense register.
  • Reconciles the outstanding Disbursement register and prepares cheques.
  • Allocates funds received for Manual Payments and prints, batches, sorts cheques while obtaining the necessary signatories.
  • Sorts, stamps, and distributes all mail received for the department, ensuring timely and accurate processing.
  • Files cash summaries, copies of cheques, and deposit slips.
  • Files journals and CRF vouchers, ensuring proper documentation and filing procedures.
  • Liaises with both internal and external customers to resolve accounting-related issues.
  • Manages and reconciles salary deductions for accident and health insurance, as well as The client General accounts (200140, 200153, and 200154).
  • Reconciles and manages assigned accounts, ensuring accuracy and consistency.
  • Prepares cash balances on the first working day of each month.
  • Processes Life Insurance Premiums and handles returned cheques according to established procedures.
  • Provides cheques over $100,000 to the Accountant/CFO for review and processing.
  • Conducts a quarterly review of fixed assets, ensuring alignment with fixed asset registers.
  • Ensures that all journal vouchers and CRFs over $100,000 are authorized by both the CFO and Managing Director.
  • Processes ACPM journals and prepares Salary Deduction Deposits.
  • Prepares Cheque Payment Vouchers for all clients' invoices and VAT journals.
  • Maintains the VAT register to ensure compliance with relevant tax regulations.
  • Assists with the preparation of statement of earnings for agents on request and responds to sales administration on agent payroll queries.
  • Assists with the completion of annual TD4 forms for agents on earned and financing income.
  • Assists in processing and verifying payroll, including updating salary deductions, benefits, and bonuses for employees and agents.
  • Reviews payroll records for accuracy and assists with payroll adjustments when necessary.

Job Education:

  • BSc in Accounting, ACCA Level II, or an equivalent Accounting qualification.
  • 5 O’Levels including Mathematics, English & Accounts.
  • 3 A ‘Levels.
  • LOMA 280 and 281, ACS 100 & ACS 101.

Job Training Requirements:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong communication skills (both verbal and written).

Job Experience:

  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of experience and/or qualifications.
  • Experience in payroll processing and related duties is essential.
