JOB SUMMARY

The accountant is responsible for managing and analysing financial records, including income, expenses, and taxes. The incumbent will ensure accuracy and compliance with financial regulations, prepares financial statements, and provide insights for informed decision-making. This role requires strong leadership skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment while adhering to company policies, procedures and enforcing internal controls and must maintain collaboration between the Accounts Payables department, stores and Central Support Unit.

JOB DUTIES

  • Subject matter expert responsible for preparation of statutory financial statements in compliance with IFRS.
  • Preparation of all periodic financial reporting, Board reports within stipulated deadlines and Group policies
  • Review of. Trial Balance, sub-ledgers and Balance Sheet reconciliations ensuring all reconciling items are cleared timely for bank reconciliations, GIT, prepayments, accruals, Capital WIP, inter-company Full compliance of all statutory obligations inclusive of preparation of annual Corporation Tax Returns.
  • Timely deliverables of all internal and external audit requirements, inclusive of IFRS checklist preparation and closure of any issues arising .
  • Execution of all recommendations from Group Internal Audit and external Audit management letter.
  • Conduct variance analysis and commentaries of the Company’s actual financial performance against, budget, forecast and prior year.
  • Monitor and control spending in line with budgets; collaborate with budget owners monthly.
  • Conduct detailed margin analysis by product line, store location, and other relevant segments to identify profitability drivers and opportunities for improvement.
  • Monitor and analyse the costs of goods sold (COGS), overheads, and other expenses to identify cost-saving opportunities. Ensure accurate cost allocations and contribute to pricing strategies.
  • Develop and maintain cost allocation models for accurate product and departmental cost reporting.
  • Lead cross-functional collaboration and end-to-end oversight for implementation of cost savings initiatives.
  • Analyse inventory levels and purchasing patterns to optimize stock levels and reduce wastage.
  • Continuous Learning mindset through keeping abreast of accounting standards developments, digital accounting methodologies, tools and demonstration of thought leadership.
  • Monitors and evaluates financial information systems, recommending improvements.
  • Assist in preparation of financial budgets, annual operating plan (AOP).
  • Responsible for management of capital expenditure via tracking, reporting related analyses.
  • Monitor processes and procedures for compliance with Group policies, established procedures and internal controls.
  • Support strategic initiatives approved for the current financial year, rolling forecast and related business insights projects.
  • Perform any other duties as required by the Company.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • ACCA Qualified 

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

  • Minimum 3-5 years’ experience in a similar environment.
  • Minimum of 5 years supervisory experience.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft NAV or Microsoft Dynamics would be an asset.
