Job Summary:

Responsible for compiling account information, conducting preliminary analyses of reports and guides decision-making. The Accountant is also responsible for supervising the day-to-day activities of the department to ensure accuracy and maintain the integrity of the records. All activities must conform to accounting, financial and organizational guidelines and standards and to all legal, statutory and regulatory requirements.

Job Duties

  1. Various financial and cost analysis for driving continuous improvement across all aspects of the business
  2. Prepares monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and other key management reports in accordance with international accounting standards and Company Policy
  3. Monitor and maintains internal controls to ensure compliance with established policies and procedures
  4. Prepares and reviews journal entries
  5. Reconciliation of all bank accounts
  6. Prepares reconciliation and analysis of all general ledger accounts on a monthly basis
  7. Preparation of all Payables and follow up with all Accounts Receivables
  8. Preparation of Payroll
  9. Prepares schedules for annual external audit. Working with the auditors to ensure that the audit and financial reporting deadlines are met
  10. Reviews annal budgets, quarterly budget scenarios and monthly rolling forecasts.
  11. Ensures statutory filings and payments are up to date
  12. Directs staff to achieve department goals
  13. Conducts reviews of staff progress in achieving performance standards

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Working knowledge of local financial laws and regulations.
  • Working knowledge of financial and accounting standards and practices.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Good analytical and problem solving skills.

Job Requirements

  • ACCA Qualified
  • Three (3) years experience in a similar position.
  • Knowledge of Peachtree accounting software would be an asset
  • Experience in the financial services industry would be an asset
  • Experience in Trading/Investment business sector
  • Proficiency in windows excel and word
