8 important questions to ask in an interview

You’ve finally landed a job interview and then suddenly realize that you need to make a stellar first impression. You know for sure that you don’t want to come across as that person – you know, the one applying for any and every listed vacancy. So, you research the company and carefully reread the responsibilities of the job until you have memorized each line item. But, you also know that this is not enough. You want to stand out. You want to prove to your interviewer that, when they choose you, they won’t regret their decision.

How do you do this, exactly? Well, right off the bat, you want to skip excessive “me” talk and avoid asking simple yes or no questions! Show your interviewer that you are interested in more than the monthly paycheck. Help employers see that you’re 100% invested in and focused on the job to be done.

So to kick things off on the right foot, here are 8 questions to ask in your interview that will pique your employer’s interest:

1. How many people work in this office/department?
2. What is the company’s management style?
3. Do you have a policy for helping new members of the team get on board?
4. What are biggest challenges of this job?
5. What’s the most important thing I should accomplish in the first ninety days?
6. What are the company’s plans for growth and development?
7. How does one advance in the company?
8. What’s your least favorite part of working here?

Let’s face it, the Caribbean job market is tough! There is a lot of competition out there and employers are looking for the right people to join their teams. If you use these questions to establish two-sided communication in an interview, you are guaranteed to impress the decision makers at the top.
