Job Summary:
Overseeing and ensuring the smooth running and operation of the Guardsman North Coast Kennels by supervising and providing direction to staff, organizing and managing work processes, and providing the necessary care of all canines.
Key Activities and Responsibilities:
- Supervising and monitoring Kennel Attendants’ and Canine Drivers’ duties.
- Supervising and being aware of the canines’ health and welfare at all times. Carrying out monthly treatments, dressings, and medications as necessary, assisting the Veterinary Surgeon with operations, and providing surgery aftercare.
- Monitoring staff timekeeping, overtime and personnel records, and keeping up to date canine records.
- Conducting out of town visits to other North Coast Kennel locations to check staff and kennel maintenance, and check and treat canines as necessary.
- Implementation of Kennel policies and procedures, and coordination of training of Kennel staff.
- Monitoring and maintaining supplies of dog food, cleaning chemicals, medical and other kennel items.
- Monitoring of any mechanical or structural issues with canine vehicles and liaising with the Transport Division to effect repairs.
- Monitoring the maintenance of the kennel buildings and facilities.
- Supervising canine handling training classes.
- Managing and monitoring canine locations and special assignments.
- Writing of reports and liaising with senior management with regard to canine issues.
- Perform any other duties that may be required of you.
Work Experience and Qualification:
- Associate Degree in Veterinary Science/Animal Husbandry or equivalent combination of experience and education.
- Minimum two (2) years’ experience in a similar capacity.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc.).
- Experience with administrative software, database management, and report generation.
- Proven ability to supervise teams and manage multi-functional roles.
