The National Commercial Bank of Anguilla Ltd (NCBA), the leading financial institution in Anguilla, is seeking a suitably qualified and experienced individual to fill the position of Chief Internal Audit Executive. The successful candidate will lead the Internal Audit Department, serve as an advisor, and promote high standards of internal auditing, reporting directly to the Board's Audit Committee and the Chief Executive Officer.
The successful candidate must have proven experience in the following key areas:
a) Leads the Internal Audit Department by implementing action plans related to annual planning, audit execution, audit reporting, staff recruitment and development, and audit technology.
b) Oversees the execution of individual audits defined in the audit plan, ensuring the highest level of service quality.
c) Issues all Internal Audit reports to the Audit Committee, which shall include the department's ongoing monitoring activities, identification of emerging risks and/or exposures that should be considered, and serves as a "thought leader" with respect to internal control best practices.
d) Informs senior management of significant risks or exposures related to internal controls, compliance, and/or governance requiring prompt attention.
e) Develops and maintains the company’s audit process and control documentation.
f) Ensures that Internal Audit is performing its work in accordance with the Global Internal Audit Standards standards and remains abreast of emerging trends and best practices that can be incorporated into the function.
g) Oversees Internal Audit's participation in critical business and technology initiatives and projects, ensuring that audit’s perspective is effectively voiced, and appropriate controls are designed and implemented on a proactive basis.
h) Liaise with External Auditors and oversee the effective execution of the Annual Audit process.
i) Implementation and maintenance of an audit technology platform to support internal audit processes, leveraging support from the information systems department as needed.
j) Provides direction to department personnel and ensures they receive appropriate training and fulfil their duties to the necessary standards.
k) Monitors, reports, and forecasts the department's performance by overseeing the KPIs, identifying risks and issues, and implementing corrective action(s) where required.
l) Develops and implements KPIs for the team and utilises the Performance Management system to manage and measure performance and motivate team members.
m) Provides input into the development of the department's budget and monitors and controls its utilisation.
n) Provides information for presentations and reports for Board meetings, senior leadership meetings, and various departments of the Bank when required.
o) Remains updated on relevant tools, methodologies, and technology.
Summary of Position Required Competency Levels:
a) Knowledge of good governance principles promoting the culture of transparency and accountability.
b) Knowledge of regulatory requirements related to internal audit.
c) Knowledge of internal audit principles, practices and techniques, including risk assessments, audit planning, execution, and reporting.
The ideal candidate must possess the following qualifications and background:
a) M.Sc. or equivalent professional certification in Auditing or Accounting.
b) Certification as a CIA is mandatory.
c) Certification as a CISA/CFE would be an asset
d) Ten (10) years’ experience including at least five (5) years at a senior managerial level in an auditing or regulatory environment.
e) Any other equivalent combination of education and experience.
