S.M. Jaleel & Company Limited, a leading manufacturer and distributor of non-alcoholic beverages, with overseas operations in the Caribbean Region is seeking a suitably qualified and experienced national to fill the vacant position of IR Officer- Industrial and Employee Relations at its Head Office at Otaheite Industrial Estate, South Oropouche, Trinidad.
MUST HAVE INDUSTRIAL COURT EXPERIENCE
Job Summary and Responsibilities:
This position will be responsible for overseeing all IR and ER related functions and providing support in these areas at our three offices located in South, Central and North Trinidad
Key Responsibilities:
Promotes and maintains a harmonious labour relations environment within the context of organizational strategy
Assists with the development and implementation of Human Resource Management systems, policies and procedures and ensures that the Company’s HR policies, procedures, and terms of employment are current and relevant
Provides guidance and training to all staff on the application of the Company’s policies, procedures and proper Industrial Relations practices.
Addresses all employee relations issues and provides counseling when necessary
Provides Management with appropriate Industrial Relations advice and guidance
Recommends measures/strategies for the prevention of Industrial Relations problems and their resolution when they occur
Conducts investigations and enquires into incidents, accidents and grievances as requested
Participates in the resolution of grievances at appropriate stages in the grievance procedure, including at the Ministry of Labour and Industrial Court.
Education and Experience:
B.Sc. Degree or equivalent in Management, Social Sciences, Labour Studies or Law.
A Diploma/Certification in Industrial Relations from a recognized institution.
At least five (5) years experience in the Industrial/Employee Relations function at a middle managerial level.
Experience in handling grievances and preparing Evidence and Arguments for matters at the Industrial Court.

Additional Requirements
Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software.
Knowledge of: Good Industrial Relations Practice, The Industrial Relations Act, the Retrenchment and Severance Benefits Act, the Workmen’s Compensation Ordinance, the National Insurance Act, the Maternity protection Act, the O.S.H.A. Bill, etc. and other relevant labour legislation.
