Job Summary:
We are seeking a Senior Human Resources Officer to join our team and contribute to our ongoing success. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing HR functions and supporting the organization's payroll process. This role requires attention to detail, strong organizational skills, confidentiality, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage the recruitment process, including job postings, interviews, candidate selection, and onboarding, while ensuring compliance with equal opportunity standards.
- Foster a positive work environment by addressing employee concerns, resolving conflicts, and supporting fair disciplinary and grievance procedures.
- Develop, implement, and enforce HR policies in line with labour laws, ensuring staff awareness and compliance.
- Coordinate performance appraisals and support managers in evaluating and developing employees to align with organizational goals.
- Identify training needs, organize development programs, and support employee growth and succession planning across the organization.
- Assist with payroll processing and administering employee benefits, ensuring compliance with statutory deductions and local regulations.
- Maintain accurate employee records and ensure HR practices meet legal, regulatory, and internal reporting standards.
- Support workplace health and safety initiatives in line with OSH regulations, promoting employee well-being and risk prevention.
- Liaise with trade unions, when necessary, assist in collective bargaining, and support positive, lawful industrial relations practices.
Education, Training and Certifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management, Business Administration, or related field.
- Certification in Payroll Processing from a recognized institution.
- Completion of CAT or FIA would be considered an asset.
- Training in Industrial Relations would be considered an asset.
- Knowledge of Computerized HRIS / payroll systems would be an asset.
Work Experience
- Minimum of 5–7 years of progressive HR experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or senior HR capacity.
- Hands-on experience in supporting HR projects, recruitment, industrial relations, and performance management.
Technical Knowledge
- Highly proficient in computer skills and technology.
- Advanced knowledge of Trinidad and Tobago labour laws and regulations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and HRIS/payroll software.
