The Role
Responsible for all general maintenance tasks related to the grounds including ensuring the appearance of trees, shrubs, flowers and lawns, keeping the grounds free from harmful insects and plant diseases and advising management of cost-effective methods. Minor repairs to building (carpentry, plumbing, etc.).
What You'll Be Doing
- Keeping facilities and surrounding areas free from trash, litter, debris and weeds
- Maintaining condition and appearance of lawns, grounds and surrounding areas
- Ensure a safe environment for staff and clients by adhering to safety and health regulations
- Plant and nurture new trees, flowers, and various plants
- Work with hand tools and basic light machinery such as small diggers, drills, screw drivers, hammers along with others
- Cleaning and maintaining equipment and materials
- Assist other departments with their storage areas, taking goods to different departments
- Provide guidance to management on matters related to the grounds
- Performing other duties as required such as carpentry, plumbing, some electrical and painting at times.
- Assists with loading and unloading of goods delivered/dispatched.
A Little Bit About You
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to handle a range of horticultural and grounds-keeping equipment
- Proficient knowledge of maintaining lawns, fields and grounds
- Solid understanding of health and safety rules and legislation
- Friendly personality with excellent interpersonal skills
- Good communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
- Physically fit, strong, agile and dexterous
Minimum Qualifications
- At least two years’ proven experience in a similar role
