MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN
The maintenance technician will provide technical support to ensure the full operation of all plant and equipment systems during an assigned shift while attending to all service calls.
Specific requirements/duties of the position include:
- Providing technical support on a particular shift to ensure the performance of all equipment and systems as instructed;
- Responding to service calls and ensure their timely completion
- Performing constant monitoring of the use of all machinery and equipment to ensure proper operation and efficiency
- Ensuring proper operation of the stand generators in the event of a power failure
- Attending to emergency breakdown of mechanical, electrical and pneumatic equipment & systems
- Addressing requests put in by other departments in a timely manner
- Assisting with the establishment of a stock of spare parts and equipment necessary to carry out work
- Maintaining an inventory
- Assisting in other trade areas when instructed by a member of the supervisory team
- Ensure compliance with all instructions given by the Chief Engineer, and/or Senior Managers and Supervisors as well as all safety regulations
- Carrying out assigned duties in respect of fire-fighting, disaster preparedness and response
- Ensuring all areas are clean and tidy after work has been completed and returning tools after use
- Providing a written report at the end of any shift assigned
Physical Demands:
- Must be able to lift up to 60 lbs and push/pull carts and equipment weighing up to 250 lbs on an as-needed basis. Must be able to bend, stoop, squat, and stretch to fulfill maintenance-related tasks.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Must have a minimum of a high school diploma and/or a certificate, preferably in the field of Electrical Installation/Electrical Technology, from a recognized Vocational Training Institution
- Basic computer literacy and internet knowledge is preferred
- Must possess a level of skill and/or Technical Competence equivalent to at least Level II HEART Trust NTA certification
