POSITION: SCHOOL FARM ATTENDANT
REPORTING AUTHORITY:
The incumbent reports directly to the Agricultural Science Teacher who provides daily supervision based on key accountabilities of the job.
ROLE AND CORE FUNCTION
The Farm Attendant is assigned to Bishop Anstey High School East and provides support to the Agricultural Classes with crop production and maintenance of the Agricultural Unit including care of poultry and livestock.
The core responsibility is farming.
SUMMARY OF MAIN DUTIES
- Performing duties such as plowing, harrowing, cultivating, fertilizing, irrigating, and harvesting farm crops on assigned plots and acreage.
- Caring for livestock and poultry, including the cleaning, feeding, weighing and medication of animals.
- Checking animals for - diseases and other disorders.
- Mixing soil, sand and fertilizers according to specification.
- Preparing insecticide solutions and operating spray equipment on assigned plots and acreage for insect control.
- Changing oil, grease and performing minor repairs to farm equipment and machinery.
- Assisting in the general repair and maintenance of farm structures.
- Cultivating vegetable plots
- Assisting with demonstrating practical skills to students.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- A minimum of three CSEC passes, one of which must be Agricultural Science
- At least one (1) year experience in Agriculture or related field
- Certificate in Crop & Livestock Production would be an asset.
- Experience with fertilizer usage would be an asset
- Experience with pest control would be an asset

- Farming equipment, insecticide solution
