Position Summary
To directly manage the shift in a manner that will maximize production performance within established safety, quality, and cost parameters. To optimize production efficiency in a safe and quality conscious manner by proper root cause analysis, monitoring trends, making recommendation based on analysis, and improving process.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Establishes and monitors overall plant performance by ensuring production targets and quality standards are achieved.
- Monitor all plant operations after 4:00p.m, on weekends and on public holidays including the following areas, Logistics, Batch, Furnace, Operations, Warehouse, Contracted Labour, Plant Security, Stores and Engineering.
- Responsible for the management of Hot End and Cold End activities. Ensuring cost effective management of factors such as manpower and overtime.
- Minimize machine downtime and production loss by troubleshooting problems through Root Cause Analysis and process control management.
- Perform audits on a routine basis of personnel in each different role on the shift, documenting findings and escalating, as necessary.
- Ensure that correction of bottle faults is done in a systematic manner, using process control techniques and proper data analysis
- Interpret Statistical Analysis and use this information to make decision on corrective actions taken in the bottle forming process.
- Participate in work planning, staffing and the development and review of operating systems and work procedures.
- Act as a change agent (leader) to instill positive team efforts and embraces Continuous Improvement concepts to ensure workers understand and contribute towards achieving set goals and targets.
- Provides coaching, guidance and direction to employees as needed to ensure achievement of performance outcomes and objectives.
- Receives and actions employee grievances in keeping with established HR and IR procedures.
- Manage and act as necessary with respect to addressing poor performance, absenteeism, and punctuality on the job.
- Participate in the development and implementation of and perform all duties in accordance with the procedures as per ISO 9001 standards and CGL Quality Manual.
- Effectively ensure that subordinates adhere to the Company’s/Department’s safety policies and procedures to minimize the risk of injury.
- Conduct the annual performance appraisal of subordinates and undertake appropriate follow-up actions to develop the capabilities of employees and maximize the efficiency of the department.
- Plan for and participate in training and developmental activities for subordinates.
- Accurately prepare appropriate reports relevant to operations and related matters.
- Ensure safe working environment to minimize the risk of injury. Understand, implement, and enforce the HSE programs.
- Ensures compliance for Quality, Safety, GMP, and Production Procedures from all members of the shift.
- Assist in preparing budgets for monitoring and control.
- Liaise with the authorities in the other Departments.
- To comply with the Company’s/ Department’s procedures and policies belonging to the Quality Management System and the Health, Safety & Environmental Management System.
- To fulfill the legal duties of the Occupational Safety & Health Act 2004 as an employee
Experience and experience required
- Eng in Engineering or a suitable equivalent
- A minimum of five (5) years’ experience in a senior supervisory position
- Understanding of Statistical Process Control
- Proficiency in MS Office applications.
- The ability to communicate effectively at all levels
- Experience in glass manufacturing will be an asset
