ELECTRONICS AND CONTROLS ENGINEER

Job Purpose

The Electronics and Controls Engineer will be required to manage the maintenance resources of the company in a safe, efficient and cost effective manner while maximizing plant and equipment reliability and availability.

Role Specification

• Ensure adherence to company policies, procedures, and safety standards.
• Monitor and comply with governmental and internationally accepted safety regulations.
• Promote safety awareness within the department.
• Make recommendations to management regarding safety issues.
• Track, analyze, and improve key maintenance parameters such as asset utilization, maintenance cost, PM (Preventive Maintenance) compliance, and schedule compliance.
• Plan and schedule maintenance work to maximize plant and equipment availability.
• Maintain and upgrade Preventative Maintenance systems and procedures.
• Develop and manage subordinate staff, providing effective leadership.
• Ensure performance management of the maintenance team.
• Provide timely updates to the management team on issues affecting operations and maintenance.
• Liaise with other departments for coordination of maintenance work.
• Oversee the installation and commissioning of new equipment.
• Re-engineer plant equipment as needed.
• Ensure modifications to plant/equipment are accurately reflected in engineering drawings/specifications and SOP’s (Standard Operating Procedures).
• Produce a monthly maintenance report and any special reports/studies required.
• Monitor the use and inventories of spare parts, maintenance supplies, and equipment.
• Initiate reordering of supplies and spare parts when necessary.
• Provide information to the Purchasing and Stores Department on stock/spares requirements.

• Good practical and technical skills
• An understanding of engineering drawings and principles.
• Must be able to troubleshoot

    MINIMUM EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING

• B.Sc. or B.Eng. Electrical Engineering (controls option) or equivalent
• Minimum 3 years working in industrial maintenance field.
  
• MEEET/EEET Certification
• Knowledge of control systems
• PLC programming
