The JPS & Partners Co-operative Credit Union Ltd. is seeking to identify a suitably

qualified candidate to fill the position of:

SENIOR ACCOUNTANT

Core Functions

The incumbent will give support to the Manager – Finance & Treasury to ensure the Credit Union’s Accounting Records, Cash and Asset Management, Investments, Financial Reporting and Budgeting are efficiently maintained, and that the Accounts Department remains compliant with International Accounting Standards and Regulatory Requirements for financial institutions, in order that the JPS & Partners Credit Union achieves its Mission, Vision and Major Targets.

Major Duties and Responsibilities

• Coordinates the daily operations of the Accounting Department, ensuring that the accounting procedures conform to generally accepted accounting principles.

• Coordinates the preparation of monthly financial statements complete with Statement of Financial Position, Statement of Profit & Loss, comprehensive Income/Variance Schedules and notes to the Financial Statements ensuring timeliness and accuracy of information for approval within agreed deadlines.
• Coordinates the preparation of the annual budget.
• Coordinates the preparation of monthly reports within the required timeframe for submission to the various regulatory bodies e.g. BOJ/JCCUL etc.

• Plans and facilitates conducting of the annual external audit by providing the required information in a timely manner.

Qualification and Experience

• Graduate Degree with major in Finance, Accounts, Economics or equivalent from an accredited institution.
• Chartered Certified Accountant (ACCA) qualification.
• A minimum of three (3) years’ experience at a senior level, particularly in finance or accounting in a financial institution.
• Experience in Auditing, an asset.

• In-depth knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, investment and cost control principles.
• Knowledge and application of International Accounting Standards and other generally accepted accounting principles and practices.
• Ability to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports, statements and projections.
