The Lab Technician is responsible for providing direct technical, and administrative services to support the functions of the Training Department within institutions. The Job Holder deals with the maintenance and operations of computer labs and assist lab users with computer-related issues.
REQUIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/EXPERTISE:
ü NVQ-J Level- Two in Housekeeping or related skill
ü At least One (1) year relevant experience in a comparable job and business environment. The experience ideally should be gained from an industry/environment similar to what prevails at HEART/NSTA Trust

ü Knowledge of hospitality food safety regulations, standards and practices applicable to the accommodation sector and food service industry.
ü Good Human Relations/Interpersonal skills
KEY DUTIES:
ü Prepares technical skills training laboratory for functions and trainee instruction
ü Distributes loose tools and supplies to trainees and maintain records of such use
ü Monitors lab and promptly reports malfunction of any equipment, tool, furniture, and fittings
ü Conducts practical demonstrations and guide trainees in laboratory operations
ü Maintains inventory of loose tools, equipment and supplies in the department
ü Monitors usage of tools and equipment, and carry out daily temperature checks on refrigerated equipment
ü Ensures safety regulations and safe practices are complied with by all users in the lab
ü Ensures assigned tools, equipment and supplies are kept secure at all times
ü Maintains storeroom for the assigned skill area in good order inclusive of sanitation
ü Maintains inventory management systems, to include stock rotation, updating stock cards and ensuring that adequate supplies are always available for instructional use
ü Sets up equipment, check and issue materials, tools, and resources for use in practical sessions
ü Requisitions and receives supplies from main stores; label and store items appropriately in the assigned training storage areas
ü Prepares reports (monthly, and hoc) on utilization of materials & supplies and condition of equipment and tools
ü Assists instructors, staff, and trainees in the use of the various tools, equipment and supplies in the training laboratory
ü Assists instructors with the coordination of a cleaning schedule to ensure trainees maintain the cleanliness of the lab during practical sessions.
ü Assists in service delivery during special events
ü Assists in maintaining tools, machines/equipment based on the procedures of the Institution/Organisation and submit relevant documents as required
ü Reports lost and or damaged items/equipment to the relevant personnel within established timeframe
ü Ensures lab is secure when not in use
ü Helps to organize trainees when the instructor is absent
ü Assists in maintaining discipline during and after training sessions
ü Assists with instructional sessions as time tabled using established curriculum and relevant/appropriate strategies to enhance the learning process
