The Assistant Manager, Internal Control will be responsible for assisting in ensuring that appropriate internal controls and processes are in place throughout the business to secure the assets of the business and reduce the risk of loss and that policies are being adhered to.
Duties and Responsibilities
Maintain comprehensive knowledge of the business regulations, systems, policies and procedures.
Assigned Authorized Economic Operator (AEO) Officer for the company.
Conduct audits to assess compliance with AEO requirements and identifyand implement corrective actions and improvements where required.
Conduct reviews of business processes to determine whether gaps existin the internal control policies or in the way the company adheres to them.
Address questions from employees of the company about interpreting policies or how to handle specific situations that arise.
Assist to organise and manage stock counts on a weekly and quarterly basis
Coordinate and manage cash counts and ensuring that the company policies are in place and are being adhere to.
Arrange fixed asset count at least once per year and collaborate with the
Finance Department to ensure full reconciliation with the Asset register.
Any other tasks assigned that will assist in achieving the purpose statedabove and/or the company mission
Job Requirements
Qualification / Education and Experience:
A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related field
Final stage of ACCA or equivalent professional certification
Experience working in a finance, accounting or auditing department is generally necessary as well
At least 3 years experience in a computerised accounting environment.
Experience within a management/supervisory capacity.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
A thorough understanding of accounting principles and procedures.
Computer literate. Particularly, knowledge of Microsoft Excel or other spreadsheet applications.
Attentiveness to detail, knowledge of accounting and finance
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Ability to manage and prioritise a demanding workload.
Positive attitude towards work.
Ability to use own initiative and work independently.
Team player.
Tactful and discreet
Special Conditions Associated with the Job
Travelling throughout the island sometimes on very short notice which may require overnight stay.
