The Director, Upskilling Academy will provide leadership and support for programme proposals and design based on the needs of a wide-ranging clientele, instructional delivery, and management of customer relations. The Director also builds strategic business relationships and partnerships with stakeholders, as well as foster client relationships that will promote the brand and work of the Academy.
The Director of the Upskilling Academy will work across multiple disciplinary areas to lead the design, development, monitoring and evaluation of stackable curriculum within the Academy and across the other academic schools at COSTAATT. The Director will build strategic partnerships with corporate stakeholders that will position the Academy as a preferred provider of workforce training and development. The Director, Upskilling Academy reports to the Dean of the School of Workforce Enhancement and Development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Works with the Dean, School of Workforce Enhancement and Development to develop, implement and evaluate the School’s strategic initiatives and instructional effectiveness plans.
- Conducts needs assessments to determine new growth areas for upskilling training and make recommendations to the Dean.
- Liaises with prospective clients to identify workforce and educational gaps and to plan for the development, review, approval, and implementation of curriculum.
- Collaborates with the Dean, faculty and staff in relevant units in the Division of Academic Affairs and the Division of Student Affairs to admit and enroll students for all credit and non-credit certificate and training programmes executed by the Academy.
- Monitors and evaluates the implementation of planned and approved curriculum within the Academy.
- Liaises with national and international agencies and other key stakeholders for assistance and partnerships, in curriculum development and for delivery of programmes.
- Creates effective outreach programmes to promote the programmes within the Academy.
- Supervises the work of all teaching and non-teaching staff in the Academy including, facilitating regular staff meetings, mentoring junior staff, and arranging for professional development opportunities.
- Prepares, recommends and manages the budget for the Upskilling Academy and its programmes, ensuring cost-effective delivery.
- Maintains the Academy’s records and prepares reports on the unit’s key performance indicators for submission to relevant departmental heads of COSTAATT.
Requirements:
- Master’s degree in Educational Leadership, Curriculum Design, Instructional Technology, Higher Education Leadership, or a related field.
- Minimum seven (7) years’ progressive experience in higher education administration at the managerial level, preferably in continuing or adult education.
- Experience with faculty development and training.
- Proven track record in designing and stackable upskilling and reskilling programmes.
- Experience with researching and implementing educational technology solutions.
- Possess excellent communication skills both verbal and written.
- Ability to effectively lead and implement complex projects.
- Must be flexible with work schedules and be available to work overtime on evenings and weekends, as requested by the Dean or College Executives.
Compensation:
- Base Salary: $18,500 - $23,000
- Transport Allowance: $1,500
- Communication Allowance: $300
