PAYROLL CLERK
The Payroll Clerk will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the payroll office, which includes bookkeeping, clerical and administrative duties. The position demands a high level of confidentiality, well-developed human relations and computer skills, fair knowledge of payroll procedures, computations for all levels of employees, and an advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel and its applications.
The Payroll Clerk will also be responsible for the monthly filing of payroll taxes.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
- Payroll Management
- Prepare monthly and fortnightly payrolls
- Prepare and send advice (debit notes) to the related companies to request payments to make fortnightly and monthly salary payments.
- Issue receipts
- Generate and file statutory payroll deductions monthly.
- Generate voluntary staff deductions for payment to various institutions monthly.
- Prepare all payment vouchers for signing.
- Maintain cheque disbursement book.
- Prepare monthly bank reconciliation.
- Compile and maintain payroll files.
- Prepare journals for payroll information in consultation with the Group Financial Controller.
- Prepare verification statements/letters for deductions such as NHT, NIS, etc.
- Liaise with software suppliers to ensure speedy resolution of all software problems.
- Receipt of Group Life and Health insurance invoices
- B. Accounting Functions
- Maintain Intercompany balance schedules.
- Prepare credit card reconciliation and ensure Accountants make payment on time.
- Verification of credit card income.
- Control number.
- Daily summary.
- Maintain bank signatories’ identification file.
Perform any other duties that may be assigned from time to time.

Qualification: Education Experience/Competence | - Minimum 4 CXC including Mathematics or Accounts and English or
BSc. Degree - Two (2) years’ experience in an accounting environment
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, Oasys and Sage/Accpac.
