Job Specification
The primary duty of a lifeguard is to enforce safety rules and maintain swimmer safety. Lifeguards monitor water conditions and guest behavior, monitor the water for danger, enforcing safety rules and paying close attention to swimmer activities and behavior. Lifeguards may issue warnings when a visitor is creating an unsafe environment.
Education and Experience (Minimum Requirements)
- Diploma in Administration
- Computer Literacy – mastery of Microsoft office, understanding of POS system
- Two years related experience
Specialized knowledge, skills and abilities
Completion of lifeguard training
- RLSS certification
- Related experience
- First Aid and CPR certification would be an asset
- Proficient communication skills, both verbal and written
- Proficient in interacting with people of various ages from diverse backgrounds.
- Physically fit, strong, agile and dexterous.
- Knowledge of standard operational procedures and practices
- Good interpersonal skills
- Ability to work under pressure
- Ability to use initiative
- Good time management skills
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Overseeing aquatic activities
- Explaining and enforcing rules, regulations and policies to ensure safety of clients.
- Warning swimmers regarding unsafe situations.
- Responding to emergencies and rescuing swimmers in danger of drowning.
- Performing first aid procedures.
- Monitoring designated areas to recognize signs of danger.
- Maintaining order in swimming areas.
- Maintaining cleanliness and orderliness of all areas.
- Maintaining records and reports.
- Must be effective in ability to act quickly to maneuver and navigate in the water even while carrying another person
