Job Summary:  The incumbent is responsible for providing assistance with the maintenance of the plant and equipment (general maintenance) and serve the department’s customers satisfactorily.

General Duties & Responsibilities:

• Supervising engineering staff and daily engineering operations and activities, to ensure the highest level of productivity;
• Completes Engineering plan by scheduling and assigning personnel, accomplishing work results, establishing priorities, monitoring progress, resolving problems and reporting results.
• Supervise and ensure the execution of preventive maintenance (equipment and infrastructure).
• Supervise and lead in performing all mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, lubrication, cleaning and hydraulic duties on the company equipment to repair and maintain a high standard of operating efficiency within the department.
• Execute corrective work with good quality control of work to ensure no re-work.
• Ensure shift reports, inspection checklists, PM records etc. are prepared and submitted by all Engineering staff at the end of the shift.
• Communicates equipment related downtimes and major breakdowns to key stakeholders. Provide details of root cause of these as well as repairs required and timelines to address.
• Ensure equipment handovers (after PM and repairs) are properly handed over to the respective stakeholders.
• Ensures all Engineering workstations, workshops, boiler rooms and offices are clean & properly organized at all times.          
• Provides maintenance information by compiling, initiating, sorting, and analysing production performance records and data, and answering questions and responding to requests.
• Communicate Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) from the Operations Business Unit Plan so that each employee is aware of expectations and deliverables.
• Practice, lead and enforce all established departmental and company policies, procedures and objectives, GMPs, food safety and HSE site protocols.
• Recommend and /or implement new methods, processes, and improvements where required.
• Perform administrative functions such as developing and maintaining department databases, google sheets, preparation and distribution of routine production reports as well as development of SOPs and checklists.
• Maintains Engineering staff job results by coaching / training, appraising, monitoring and if required disciplining employees;
• Assists with tracking and managing of departmental expenses to minimize departmental costs, including overtime
• Immediately report any non-conformances relating to maintenance operations to the Engineering Manager
